In her most personal and poetic statement since the death of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne has thanked fans for the “overwhelming love and support” that has “carried me through many nights.” In a moving social media post, she used the powerful metaphor of falconry to describe the unique bond of “trust and confidence” she shared with the late rock icon.

The message, posted to her Instagram account on Friday, September 12, is her most extensive public reflection since Ozzy‘s passing in July. Admitting she is still “finding my footing,” she shared a video of herself and her daughter Kelly interacting with birds of prey, an experience she found deeply meaningful.

Her full message reads:

“I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media. Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights.”

“Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.”

“I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”

Sharon‘s poignant description of the bond with the powerful birds as one she knows “all too well” is a clear and moving reference to her 50-plus-year relationship with Ozzy, a man whose wild, larger-than-life persona was grounded by the deep and trusting partnership they shared.

This deeply personal message comes nearly two months after Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the couple’s Buckinghamshire home. In the time since, the family has navigated a period of intense public and private mourning, including a historic final concert, a massive public funeral procession in Birmingham, and an intimate, star-studded burial service.
