Sharon Osbourne is reportedly considering forgoing a large public funeral for her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne, in favor of a private burial in the gardens of their cherished Buckinghamshire estate, where the rock icon passed away on Tuesday, July 22.
According to a report from MailOnline, sources close to the family suggest that Sharon may opt for an intimate farewell on their 350-acre property, known as Welders House. The decision is said to stem from a desire to provide a peaceful final resting place for Ozzy after a traumatic final day, and because a large, public memorial may be too much for his grieving widow to bear.
“I don’t know if she will feel strong enough to have a big memorial for all the people who want to say goodbye to him,” a source told the outlet. “We think she may want to bury him privately at home, in the garden.”
A private burial would be a poignant final chapter in Osbourne’s homecoming. The singer made the arduous journey from Los Angeles back to the UK last month, fulfilling his wish to spend his final days in the English countryside home he and Sharon had owned since 1993. “In the end, he died peacefully at home with all the family with him,” the source added. “It’s a lovely house and Sharon wanted to bring him back from LA.”
The desire for a quiet, private service is underscored by reports of the dramatic events on the day of Osbourne‘s death. On Tuesday morning, an air ambulance was dispatched to the residence, and paramedics spent hours providing advanced critical care in an attempt to save his life.
While the Osbourne family has not yet announced official funeral plans, a private service at the home he fought so hard to return to would be a fittingly peaceful end for the “Prince of Darkness.” His sisters recently told The Mirror they were “just thankful he died in England,” fulfilling his final wish to come home.
