The revolution is turning 50, and the Sex Pistols are marking the occasion with a series of major headline dates across the U.K. in the summer of 2026. The punk icons—featuring original members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock—will once again be fronted by Frank Carter for the “50 Years of Punk” celebration.
The upcoming run of shows is steeped in history, timed to commemorate the half-century anniversary of the genre’s explosion in 1976. Specifically, 2026 marks 50 years since the band’s legendary performance at The Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester—a gig famously dubbed by NME as “the most important concert of all time” for inspiring an entire generation of future artists to pick up instruments.
This lineup, which re-emerged in 2025 to chaotic acclaim, has already proven its vitality. From tearing up stages in Australia and Japan to inciting a giant circle pit at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, the collaboration has been a forceful revival of the band’s catalog. Their return was cemented with an intimate, sweaty gig at London’s 100 Club, witnessed by rock royalty including Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, and Bobby Gillespie.
For guitarist Steve Jones, the motivation to continue touring this lineup is rooted purely in enjoyment.
“If it ain’t fun, I ain’t doing it,” Jones stated. “I’m too old for bull**t.”
The 2026 tour will see the band taking over historic outdoor venues, joined by a stellar cast of support acts including The Stranglers, The Undertones, Panic Shack, and the “Bard of Salford” himself, Dr John Cooper Clarke.
