Sepultura officially kicked off their 2026 Australian tour this past Friday, March 20, treating fans at Metro City in Perth to a massive surprise. During the set, the band delivered the very first live performance of their brand new track, “The Place“.

The fresh single is pulled from the group’s highly anticipated upcoming EP, The Cloud Of Unknowing, which is scheduled to drop on April 24 via Nuclear Blast Records. Billed as a bittersweet farewell release, the four-song collection captures the band’s signature ferocity and emotional depth as they celebrate their legendary career.

Speaking on the heavy themes behind the new music, frontman Derrick Green explained the song’s focus on the immigrant experience, societal manipulation, and inner conflict.

“This song deals with immigrants who have come to a place seeking refuge and start a new life. Once assimilated into a false sense of security and relentless propaganda, they began to act out against what they hate about themselves. The transition begins to escape from the self-hatred and the lashing out against people who believed in the same ideas. I feel the lyrics truly follow the transitions of the song. Starting with disappointment and arriving at anger.”

Fans in attendance quickly uploaded footage of the milestone performance online. The massive 23-song setlist spanned the band’s entire history, featuring beloved classics, a legendary cover, and their newest material.
