Scott Weiland: Live arrives on CD, digital and red vinyl on 23 October, led by “Interstate Love Song“.
Scott Weiland: Live reaches streaming services and shops properly on 23 October, more than a decade after the singer’s death and having existed until now only as a sold-out Record Store Day pressing. Primary Wave Music are releasing it on CD, digitally and on a limited red vinyl edition.
“Interstate Love Song (Live)” is out today as the first taste, with a visualiser built from previously unseen footage of Weiland onstage.
The nine tracks span all three strands of his career. Two Stone Temple Pilots songs sit alongside “Interstate Love Song” — “Vasoline” and “Unglued” — with Velvet Revolver‘s “Do It For The Kids” and five from his own catalogue.

The recordings date from 2009, when Weiland was touring behind “Happy” In Galoshes. That album came out in November 2008 through Softdrive, produced with Doug Grean, and was only his second solo record, a decade after 12 Bar Blues in 1998. Its first single, “Missing Cleveland“, reached number 28 on the Modern Rock chart and closes this set.
The tapes were found by the Weiland estate and had never been released in any form before the Record Store Day pressing, which went out on blue vinyl and sold out quickly.
The release date falls four days before what would have been his 59th birthday on 27 October.
Weiland fronted Stone Temple Pilots through their run of 1990s albums, joined Velvet Revolver in 2004 and stayed until 2008, then returned to STP before being dismissed in February 2013.
He died on 3 December 2015, aged 48, on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota while on the road with his band The Wildabouts. The medical examiner recorded an accidental overdose.
