Scott Ian, Danny Lilker, And Jamey Jasta Deliver S.O.D. Classics Live At Milwaukee Metal Fest (Video)

Attendees of the Milwaukee Metal Fest witnessed a unique and blistering tribute to the legendary crossover thrash pioneers Stormtroopers Of Death (S.O.D.) on Friday, May 16, 2025. Under the moniker Stormbreeders Of Death, a special lineup featuring two original S.O.D. members – guitarist Scott Ian (Anthrax) and bassist Danny Lilker – took the stage at The Rave / Eagles Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Rounding out this powerhouse ensemble were Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta handling vocal duties and Scott Ian‘s son, Revel Ian, on drums. The performance was a high-energy homage to the often politically incorrect and fiercely aggressive music of S.O.D.

Stormbreeders Of Death ripped through a comprehensive setlist that included many of S.O.D.‘s most iconic tracks, alongside a few fitting covers and even a Hatebreed classic, igniting the Milwaukee crowd. Fan-filmed video of the concert has since surfaced online.

Stormtroopers Of Death originally formed in 1985 as a side project featuring Ian, Lilker, then-Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, and vocalist Billy Milano. The band famously emerged during downtime in the recording sessions for Anthrax’s seminal album Spreading The Disease. They quickly became renowned for fusing hardcore punk’s raw energy with thrash metal’s intensity, delivered with satirical and often controversial lyrics.

Their 1985 debut album, Speak English Or Die, is considered a cult classic and a cornerstone of the crossover thrash genre, influencing countless bands with its short, aggressive anthems like “March Of The S.O.D.” (which served as the intro for MTV’s “Headbangers Ball” for many years), “Milano Mosh,” and “United Forces.”
