Sanguisugabogg just wrapped up a short Midwest run with Stabbing and Putrid Stu, but their second-to-last stop in Memphis, TN ended in chaos after the band says they were threatened by the venue’s general manager.

The Ohio death metal unit played 1884 Lounge on July 29th, but things turned ugly backstage. According to the band, venue GM Cory Likens accused them of breaching contract by ending their set earlier than scheduled—something the band says was completely fabricated. During the confrontation, Likens allegedly shoved their tour manager out of his office.

But it didn’t stop there.

When the bands returned to settle up and sort things out, Sanguisugabogg claim Likens opened his door and threatened to shoot them. He reportedly left the building shortly after, and another staff member eventually made sure the bands were paid.

The band shared a full statement on social media, warning others in the industry not to work with Likens or the venue:

**WARNING**
BANDS, BOOKING AGENTS, MANAGERS DO NOT WORK FOR THIS CLOWN

This is Cory Likens and hopefully by tomorrow morning he doesn’t have a job! At our show in Memphis, TN tonight right after we got done playing we were told to come to his office to settle so our tm came up and was told that we breached our contract because our set ended earlier than what we were slotted (not a thing) and shoved him out of his office.

All the bands returned to just settle out and one of us just wanted to have a conversation as to what was going on and he popped his head out of the office to tell us to leave or he was going to SHOOT us. He ended up leaving as he was told to by our awesome team and luckily after a few hours someone way more professional and calmly mannered wrote a check. We’ve heard from people that he’s unwell and stuff to not this extreme but bands not getting paid has happened before.

Glad you made sure to leave without giving us your name I bet you felt really proud and safe but quick detective work like finding your f*ckboy haircut on google did the trick.
We also made sure to include pics of the green room cuz we saw the staff take a picture of the room when the table got knocked over… obviously it’s not broken

Awesome venue, awesome show, screw this dude!

UPDATE We’ve had multiple people tell us how s**tty this place is how much this dude sucks!

They’re telling us to take the post down and saying he didn’t say he was gonna shoot us that he told us “I have a gun…” that’s not true he told 5 of us he was going to shoot us and they’re saying we breached contract which is totally made up thing

People do not support Minglewood Hall / 1884 Lounge do not buy tickets to their shows and make everyone aware of this! Straight up f**k this place!

In better news, the Sanguisugabogg recently announced their brand-new album Hideous Aftermath, out October 10 via Century Media. The first single, “Abhorrent Contraception,” features Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity and comes with a NSFW-style video that can be seen below.
