After more than three decades away from U.K. stages, Sammy Hagar finally returned to Britain this week as part of his ongoing Best of All Worlds tour.
The Red Rocker performed at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Monday (July 6), marking his first proper U.K. tour appearance in more than 30 years. Hagar’s last full British tour date came in 1995, when Van Halen traveled to the U.K. as support for Bon Jovi.
While Hagar did make a special guest appearance at Black Sabbath‘s “Back to the Beginning” concert last year, the Wolverhampton performance marked his long-awaited return as a headlining touring artist in the country.
For the Best of All Worlds trek, Hagar was joined by former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff and keyboardist Nathan Mercado.
The 20-song set covered multiple chapters of Hagar’s career, featuring classic Van Halen material alongside solo favorites and songs from his early days with Montrose. Fans were treated to performances of “Best of Both Worlds,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Right Now,” “There’s Only One Way to Rock,” “I Can’t Drive 55” and “Bad Motor Scooter,” among others.
The evening featured an unexpected surprise during the encore when former drummer Jason Bonham joined Hagar and the band on stage for a cover of “Rock and Roll” by Led Zeppelin, bringing the historic return to a close.
