Rush may soon join the growing list of legendary artists to headline the Las Vegas Sphere, as new reports suggest the iconic Canadian rock band is edging closer to securing a residency at the groundbreaking venue.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, discussions between the band and Sphere officials have been ongoing for some time, with an agreement reportedly expected to be finalized in the near future.
“Rush has an enormous audience across North America. Even though they are Canadian, their music and success has been huge in the U.S. Their hits, history and live performances make them an attractive proposition,” a source told the publication. “Talks have been secretly going for now for a while, but the word is that contracts could be locked down in the next couple of weeks.”
The speculation gained even more momentum earlier this week after longtime rock radio host Eddie Trunk claimed on his SiriusXM show that a Rush Sphere residency was already a “done deal.” According to Trunk, the band is expected to perform between 16 and 18 shows next year. Those comments were later reported by the fan site Rush Is A Band.
Should the residency come to fruition, it would arrive during an active period for Rush. The band’s current “Fifty Something” tour marks the first outing featuring Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson alongside acclaimed drummer Anika Nilles, who previously toured with Jeff Beck, and keyboardist Loren Gold, whose résumé includes touring stints with The Who and Chicago.
Opened in September 2023, the Las Vegas Sphere has quickly established itself as one of the most talked-about concert venues in the world. With a capacity of 17,600, the venue is equipped with a massive 16K wraparound display and cutting-edge audio technology designed to create an immersive live experience.
Several major rock acts have already staged successful residencies there, including U2, Phish, Dead & Company and The Eagles. Metallica also expanded its own run well beyond the initially announced eight October performances, eventually adding dates across November, January, February and March.
