Rush fans in Southern California witnessed another special moment on the band’s “Fifty Something” reunion tour on Thursday night (June 11), when the legendary Canadian rockers performed their landmark 1981 album Moving Pictures in its entirety at the Kia Forum in Inglewood.
Featuring classics such as “Tom Sawyer,” “Red Barchetta,” “YYZ,” “Limelight,” and “Vital Signs,” Moving Pictures remains one of the defining albums of Rush‘s career and a cornerstone of progressive rock. Fans were also treated to the return of “The Camera Eye,” which was performed live for the first time since 2015 and served as one of the evening’s tour debuts.
Another notable addition to the set was “New World Man.” The hit from 1982’s Signals made its first live appearance since 2002, giving longtime followers of the band yet another reason to celebrate.
The current incarnation of Rush features Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson alongside drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold. Since launching the “Fifty Something” tour, the group has embraced a rotating setlist strategy, regularly introducing deep cuts, long-absent songs, and album-focused performances.
Thursday’s concert opened with a selection of fan favorites spanning multiple eras of the band’s career before transitioning into the complete performance of Moving Pictures. Following the album set, Rush returned to the stage with additional classics, including excerpts from 2112, before wrapping up the night with a two-song encore.
Rush will conclude its four-show stand at the Kia Forum on June 13 before taking the “Fifty Something” tour to Mexico City and Fort Worth, Texas.
