Rose Tattoo have cancelled the rest of their farewell European tour after Angry Anderson was admitted to hospital.
Rose Tattoo will not finish the run they billed as their last ever European tour. The band confirmed on Monday, August 10 that every remaining date has been cancelled, with Gary “Angry” Anderson in hospital.
Their statement reads: “We are deeply sorry to announce that all remaining shows of Rose Tattoo‘s European Tour 2026 have to be cancelled.”
“Angry Anderson is currently in hospital due to a medical issue.”
“We are absolutely devastated that we cannot continue this tour and share these remaining shows with you.”
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, messages and support you have already sent Angry and the band.”
“We kindly ask everyone to respect Angry‘s and his family’s privacy at this time.”
“Tickets for the cancelled headline shows can be returned at the respective point of purchase.”
“Thank you for your understanding, your love and your incredible support.”
The band has given no further detail on the nature of the illness and has asked that the family be left alone.
The cancellations take in the remainder of the German leg, including Kaiserslautern on August 11, Munich, Berlin, Braunschweig and Hamburg, along with the Baltic Open Air festival. The band’s scheduled appearance at Alcatraz Metal Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium on August 9 had already been called off at short notice.
The run formed part of “One Last Ride“, the farewell tour marking the end of five decades on the road. Rose Tattoo announced last November that the July and August dates would be their final European shows, closing an international chapter that began when “Rock ‘N’ Roll Outlaw” reached number two in France and number five in Germany in 1981. The tour opened in Leipzig on July 24 and had taken in Sweden, Norway and Switzerland before stopping.
Anderson turned 79 on August 5. Two days ago he spoke to the podcast “PodRaznoKast“ about how much the European farewell meant to him, describing the run as very emotional and noting that he is the only original member left in the band. In the same conversation he confirmed plans for a new studio album and said further dates were booked in Australia and in North America for 2027.
The current lineup is Anderson, guitarists Mick Arnold and Ronnie Simmons, bassist Steve “Kingy” King and drummer Paul Demarco, with former guitarist Rob Riley returning for selected farewell shows.
No word has been given on whether any of the cancelled concerts will be rescheduled.
