Legendary Canadian hard rock trio Triumph is officially preparing for a massive 2026 North American reunion tour, marking their first extensive run of shows in more than 30 years. The upcoming trek, which celebrates the band’s 50th anniversary, will feature direct support from fellow Canadian rockers April Wine.
The classic lineup of guitarist and vocalist Rik Emmett and drummer Gil Moore will be joined on the road by an impressive roster of seasoned touring musicians. The 2026 live incarnation includes guitarist Phil X (born Theofilos Xenidis), who currently plays in Bon Jovi and previously served as a touring member for Triumph. The group will also be joined by drummer and keyboardist Brent Fitz alongside bassist Todd Kerns, both of whom are best known for their work in Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators.
During a recent interview with Scott Itter on “Dr. Music,” Emmett discussed his decision to finally hit the road again after previously stating he would never tour with Triumph.
“There’s a thing about fear. Like, what are you afraid of? And it’s more a question of a challenge that you go, okay, well, let’s just see what happens. Let’s not be so afraid of tomorrow or the day after tomorrow or next week or the next month. Let’s just kind of do it and see what happens. So let’s ride the bus. Let’s see what it’s like. Let’s try to play shows back to back and let’s see what it’s like. And I think that adventurism, that sense of trying to take something on… And, of course, I’m human. I’m afraid of things. And we’re gonna find out that I have limitations; that’s for sure. But part of it is to be 72 years of age and have an opportunity like this kind of drop in my lap and go, ‘Okay, am I gonna be afraid of opportunity or am I gonna embrace it?’ Am I gonna say, ‘Climb the hill, see what’s over on the other side. Let’s go for it.’ … There’s moments where I go, ‘Have I bitten off more than I can chew?’ But then I go, ‘Well, just chew and find out.’ So it’s more a question of sort of being in the moment and trying to just keep going in the moment. So that’s what’s happening,” he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth).
The frontman also provided a sobering update on Mike Levine. In December, the bassist disclosed that a hand issue currently precludes him from playing up to his standard.
“I’m going to attempt to play as many shows as I can,” Levine explained at the time. “I have a problem with my hand that precludes me from being able to really play well. That is a big issue. I don’t want to go up there and not be able to execute properly. There is that.”
“In the meantime, we are going to do some shooting. There is going to be some really neat video stuff, special effects. So I am going to pre-record a couple of things, just so… when I am feeling good, and they will get pumped into the show at various times. I will be there physical or virtually in one way shape or form.”
During an interview with Scott Itter, Emmet said: “Rehearsals start next Monday. I don’t think Mike is gonna be able to join us. His health is such that… I mean, there’s an open spot for him if he wants it, if he can claim it. But his health has not been… We’re supposed to go to a [Toronto Maple] Leafs game tonight and do the in-between periods, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ It’s Triumph night at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. So Gil and I are going, and Mike can’t make it. That’s a kind of an indicator that, well, that’s probably not gonna happen.”
