Fifty years ago, on April 23, 1976, the Ramones released their self-titled debut album, Ramones. To mark the milestone, the band’s estate and Rhino have launched a year-long campaign honoring the record that effectively birthed the punk rock genre.

Driven by the core lineup of vocalist Joey Ramone, guitarist Johnny Ramone, bassist Dee Dee Ramone, and drummer Tommy Ramone, the fast, stripped-down album cut through the excess of the 1970s rock scene. Groundbreaking tracks like “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “Judy Is A Punk” cemented the record’s legacy. Rolling Stone previously ranked Ramones as both the “Greatest Punk Album Of All Time” and the “Best Debut Album Of All Time.”

As the centerpiece of the 50th-anniversary festivities, the only fully authorized exhibition dedicated to the Ramones will make its world premiere at The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas on July 04, 2026. The exhibit is organized and curated by The Punk Foundation in collaboration with Linda Ramone and Ramones Productions Inc. The summer-long public program will feature live performances, artist conversations, interactive experiences, and community workshops connecting audiences to the band’s enduring cultural impact.

Throughout the rest of 2026, fans can expect announcements regarding new physical releases, album reissues, and special tribute performances.

In conjunction with the anniversary kickoff, newly remastered and upscaled music videos have been released on the official Ramones YouTube channel. The upgraded visuals include classic tracks such as “I Wanna Be Sedated“, “Psycho Therapy“, “Rock N Roll High School“, “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker“, “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)“, “We Want The Airwaves“, “Time Has Come Today“, “I Wanna Live“, “Something To Believe In“, “Howling At The Moon“, and “Do You Remember Rock And Roll Radio?“.
