Following the massive commercial success of their debut comic issue, the experimental rock group Puscifer has officially released the second installment of their graphic novel series. Titled “Tales From The Pusciverse #2: The Briefcase,” the new edition arrives shortly after the series’ first issue—which introduced the character Bellendia Black—rapidly sold out and required two separate printings.
The narrative of the second issue focuses on one of the most enduring mysteries within the band’s lore. For years, a mysterious briefcase has consistently appeared across various Puscifer music videos and promotional photographs, leaving fans constantly asking what is inside the enigmatic object.
Written by Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan, the latest issue features illustrations by comic artist Marlin Shoop (known for his work on “Captain Action,” “G.I. Joe,” and “Unprepped“) and lettering by Jack Morelli (Marvel Comics, “Afterlife With Archie,” “Peter Parker Annual“).
Addressing the overarching storyline and the lore behind the new release, Maynard James Keenan stated:
“The Briefcase has been part of the Puscifer mythology for years. Everyone wonders what exactly is inside. This issue doesn’t necessarily answer the question… but it moves the story forward.”
Reflecting on the creative process behind the artwork, Marlin Shoop added:
“Issue #2 pulls you deeper into the mystery of the briefcase, and illustrating that chaos was half the fun.”
The new release also marks the official comic book debut of Major Douché, a highly recognizable character within the band’s extended universe. The figure originally debuted prior to the band’s 2009 Las Vegas residency—which marked their first-ever live performances—and was later featured in the concert film “V Is For Versatile.”
Fans can purchase copies of the “Tales From The Pusciverse” comics exclusively through the official Puscifer website.
In addition to their expanding comic universe, Puscifer recently released their latest studio album, Normal Isn’t, via Puscifer Entertainment, Alchemy Recordings, and BMG. The band is scheduled to kick off their upcoming North American tour on March 20.
