With the release of their fifth studio album Normal Isn’t fast approaching on February 6, art-rock collective Puscifer is taking a grassroots approach to the celebration. The band has announced a series of exclusive early screenings for their new concert film, “Normal Isn’t: Puscifer Live At The Pacific Stock Exchange“, to be hosted at select independent record stores across the country.
The screenings, scheduled to take place between February 6 and February 8, underscore the band’s longstanding commitment to physical media and the shops that champion it.
For frontman Maynard James Keenan, the partnership with local retailers is more than just a promotional strategy; it’s a nod to survival in a changing industry.
“Brick and mortar vinyl shops are the lifeblood of independent bands,” Keenan explained. “There is a symbiotic relationship that was almost obliterated by the age of digital downloads and streaming. Thankfully we survived by working together.”
The film itself documents a pivotal moment in the band’s history: the very first live performance of the new album Normal Isn’t. The setting is as dramatic as the music—the concert was captured inside Los Angeles’s original Pacific Stock Exchange, an art deco fortress with a reputation for being one of the city’s most haunted locations.
Within the granite-lined walls of this historic landmark, the band—comprising Keenan, Carina Round, Mat Mitchell, Gunnar Olsen, and Josh Moreau—delivers a high-octane set featuring new tracks like “Self Evident“, “Pendulum“, and “Bad Wolf“. The production promises a visual feast, boasting an entirely new stage design, fresh costuming, and a graphic-intensive light show that brings the album’s themes to life.
While the in-store screenings offer a communal first look, the film will be made available for wider purchase shortly after. Fans can buy the concert film digitally via Puscifer.com starting February 9 at noon Pacific / 3 p.m. Eastern.
This release lands simultaneously with the new album and follows the band’s recent expansion into the world of comics. Their debut issue, “Tales From The Pusciverse“, quickly sold out its initial run last week, with a second printing slated to arrive on January 25.
