A brand-new, professionally filmed video capturing Megadeth‘s massive live performance on April 30 at Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has officially been released online. The high-quality footage gives fans worldwide a front-row look at the legendary thrash metal band’s recent South American tour stop.
The release of the concert video follows a highly prestigious milestone for the band’s founder and frontman. Just one day prior to the Tecnópolis performance, Dave Mustaine was officially declared a Guest of Honor of Buenos Aires during a special ceremony held on April 29 at the legislature in the Argentine capital.
The Legislature of Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires formally presented the award to the heavy metal icon. The title represents the highest honor that the city can bestow upon foreign citizens who “have distinguished themselves in culture, in science, in politics, in sports or who have rendered important services to humanity.”
Megadeth released a collective statement expressing their appreciation for the civic accolade:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the City of Buenos Aires for this distinction, naming Dave Mustaine as a Guest of Honor.”
“It is an honor that reflects not only his legacy, but also the deep connection between his music and the Argentine audience.”
“We are truly thankful for this recognition.”
The newly released concert footage highlights several standout moments from the Buenos Aires show, featuring a mix of defining heavy metal classics alongside modern additions to their live set.
Featured Songs in the Video:
- “Tipping Point“
- “Hangar 18“
- “Let There Be Shred“
- “Symphony Of Destruction” (cut)
- “Tornado Of Souls” (cut)
- “Mechanix“
- “Peace Sells“
- “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due“
The current tour serves as part of the band’s prolonged farewell campaign, which was initially announced last August.
“There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,” Dave Mustaine explained when detailing the band’s retirement plans. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.”
The frontman has since clarified that while the recording of new studio albums has concluded, the farewell tour itself could realistically last “for another three to five years”.
