Poison The Well have officially ended their lengthy recording hiatus, releasing their first full-length studio album in over a decade and a half. Titled Peace In Place, the highly anticipated record arrived this past Friday via SharpTone Records.
To celebrate the monumental comeback, the veteran group released a brand new music video for the single “Weeping Tones“. The striking visual accompaniment features cinematic elements like a massive tornado and falling meteors, paired with scenes of relentless walking.
Discussing the deeper thematic elements behind the single, vocalist Jeffrey Moreira explained how the lyrics tackle the suffocating feeling of losing one’s identity to outside pressures.
The track addresses the “quiet loss of control that comes from feeling like you can’t fully be yourself anymore. When you have to shrink who you are just to avoid judgment or conflict, it starts to feel like something is being taken from you. That’s what ‘Weeping Tones‘ is about.”
Regarding the video’s underlying message of resilience, the frontman added that it “reflects that struggle, but it also holds onto something stronger – the one thing no one can take from you: your ability to give your love and energy to the people who matter most. No matter how heavy the world gets, no matter how much it tries to pull you apart, you can always choose to keep walking until you reach what matters most – hold it close, and never let go.”
Recognized as foundational architects of the post-hardcore and metalcore movements, the band has amassed over 100 million streams globally. Their landmark releases, such as their debut The Opposite Of December… A Season Of Separation and 2003’s You Come Before You, frequently top historical heavy music lists across major rock publications.
