Paul Gallagher, the elder brother of Oasis stars Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, has been formally charged with multiple serious offenses, the Metropolitan Police confirmed today. The 59-year-old, residing in East Finchley, North London, faces a total of 11 charges, including one count of rape.
The comprehensive list of charges against Gallagher includes three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making threats to kill, one count of coercive and controlling behavior, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. These alleged offenses are reported to have occurred over a two-year period, between 2022 and 2024.
The investigation, which commenced last year, remains active. Authorities have stated that the alleged victim is receiving support from specially trained officers. Gallagher‘s legal representatives confirmed their client has “consistently engaged with the police throughout their investigation” and “always strongly denied the allegations made against him,” adding that “he looks forward to clearing his name.”
Paul Gallagher is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 27.
This significant development emerges amidst the highly anticipated and commercially successful Oasis reunion tour. The iconic Britpop band, featuring Paul‘s younger brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, has recently performed sold-out shows in Cardiff, Manchester, and London, marking their first live appearances together in the UK since 2009. The tour, which commenced in Cardiff last month, is set to continue with upcoming dates in Edinburgh and Dublin before heading to North America.
While Paul Gallagher grew up with his siblings in Burnage, Manchester, he has never been directly involved with Oasis. He is notably one year older than Noel Gallagher and seven years older than Liam Gallagher. In 1997, he authored the book “Brothers: From Childhood to Oasis“, co-written with Terry Christian, which offered his perspective on growing up with his famously feuding brothers. Paul has also pursued endeavors as a DJ and photographer.
