Parkway Drive Cancels Park Waves Festival Amid Economic Pressure

The volatile economic climate of the global live music sector has claimed another major casualty down under. The Australian edition of Park Waves Festival, the ambitious touring event curated by metalcore titans Parkway Drive, has been canceled ahead of its scheduled debut in early 2026.

Promoters Destroy All Lines confirmed the news today, citing financial unviability as the primary driver behind the decision. The cancellation wipes out a planned five-state trek that was set to visit Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland throughout February and March.

In a statement released to social media, the organizers expressed their dismay at having to pull the plug on the event.

“We’re devastated to confirm the Park Waves Festival Australian tour will not go ahead,” Destroy All Lines stated. “The cancellation is due to a combination of challenges, and ultimately, the numbers no longer stack up. With a heavy heart, we’ve had to make a difficult decision. We’ve tried everything. We’re gutted.”

For Parkway Drive, the cancellation hits particularly close to home. The band issued their own statement, describing the situation as “a kick in the guts” and pointing to the inflationary pressures that are currently destabilizing the Australian touring market.

“Another festival being crushed by the rising costs across our entertainment industry,” the band wrote. “It hurts to be another casualty in this chapter of the Australian music scene. We’ve tried every possible option to keep this dream alive, but the reality of the circumstances won’t allow for it.”

The festival was poised to be a massive event for the scene, featuring a powerhouse lineup that included The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, and Story Of The Year. Modeled after its successful inauguration in Germany in 2024, the 16-plus event was designed to be an immersive experience fusing heavy music with a carnival atmosphere, promising circus performers, rides, sideshow alleys, and food trucks.

Refunds will be processed automatically, and all ticket holders have reportedly been notified via email.

The news comes during an otherwise active period for Parkway Drive. In May, the group released a new single titled “Sacred,” accompanied by a music video directed by Third Eye Visuals. The track marked their first fresh material since their critically acclaimed 2022 album, Darker Still.
