British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost have announced the return of former drummer Jeff Singer.

Jeff Singer Paradise Lost

British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost have announced the return of former drummer Jeff Singer, just two days after parting ways with their most recent percussionist, Guido Zima Montanarini. The band confirmed today (May 31) that Singer has officially rejoined their lineup.

Singer, who previously played with Paradise Lost from 2004 to 2008, contributed to the albums Paradise Lost (2005) and In Requiem (2007). He expressed his excitement about returning to the band in a statement released via social media.

“When I got a call asking if I would drum for Paradise Lost again, it was clear the time was right and we could actually make this happen. Nothing could make me prouder,” Singer said. “Firstly, the band, management and fans have always made me feel part of the family and secondly as a fan of the band it is a dream and something I have thought about a lot over the years. Paradise Lost are in my blood. I can’t wait and am so excited to get out there with the lads playing the songs I love and meeting our amazing loyal fans again”.

The news follows the band’s announcement on May 29 that they had made a “difficult creative decision to part ways” with Guido Zima Montanarini, who had joined the band in March 2023 as a replacement for Waltteri Väyrynen. At the time of his hiring, guitarist Greg Mackintosh had praised Guido, stating he “did such a good job that we have decided to make him our new drummer and he will be playing on all upcoming PL shows and working on new material with us for our next album”.

The lineup change comes immediately after Paradise Lost completed their “The Devil Embraced” North American tour, which concluded at Maryland Deathfest on May 24.
