Pantera vocalist Philip Anselmo has personally addressed and shut down a wave of false reports circulating online regarding his health. Recently, AI-generated content began spreading rumors that the 57-year-old musician was battling a serious illness, with some posts specifically claiming he was fighting blood cancer.
On Tuesday (February 24), Anselmo took to social media to set the record straight, confirming that he is in good health and busy with multiple musical projects.
In a direct video message to his fans, he expressed his frustration with the fake narratives being pushed by artificial intelligence accounts.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Philip H. Anselmo here. There’s an A.I. page that is going bananas about me, and it’s putting out bulls**t, bulls**t, bulls**t. I’m healthy as a horse. There’s incredible stuff going on. Mixing the new Down. King Parrot is coming into town. Performing the new En Minor in the studio, trying to get that finished. There’s a zillion things going on. Anyway, I hope everybody else is healthy, as we are over here. Much love to you, and thank you everyone who wished me a speedy recovery and all that. Come on. Damn A.I. s**t.”
As noted in his statement, Anselmo remains highly active in the studio, working on material for his sludge metal supergroup Down and his other project En Minor.
He is also continuing his extensive touring schedule with the reformed lineup of Pantera. Alongside fellow surviving member Rex Brown (bass), and joined by Zakk Wylde (guitar) and Charlie Benante (drums), the group has been on a massive world tour since December 2022. The trek has included headline festival slots across North America and Europe, as well as a major support run on Metallica‘s stadium tour throughout 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The current Pantera lineup tours with the blessing of the estates (according to Billboard) of the band’s late founders, Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott and “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
