Pantera have announced “The Great NOLA Trendkill“, a two-day festival taking place at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on November 20 and 21.
Lineup:
- Pantera
- Down
- Black Label Society
- Corrosion Of Conformity
- Power Trip
- Crowbar
- Eyehategod
- Pig Destroyer
- Rāde
- Herakleion
Individual day lineups will be announced later.
The festival is presented by Housecore Horror, Housecore Records and Live Nation. Housecore is the label and festival brand run by Pantera and Down vocalist Philip Anselmo, and the announcement confirms that the event marks the return of the Housecore Horror Festival, dormant since the mid-2010s.
Pantera‘s appearance will be their first in the city in three decades.
The festival takes its name from The Great Southern Trendkill, the band’s penultimate album, and is billed as marking that record’s thirtieth anniversary. It was released in 1996.
The album has its own New Orleans connection. While the rest of the band recorded in Texas, Anselmo cut his vocals at Nothing Studios, the New Orleans facility owned by Trent Reznor. He was born in the city and has lived in Louisiana for most of his life.
The weekend also serves as the official record release show for Down‘s Volume V, their first full-length album since Down IV Part Two in 2014.
The bill is heavily interconnected. Anselmo fronts both Pantera and Down. Zakk Wylde plays guitar in Pantera and fronts Black Label Society. Pepper Keenan plays guitar in Down and leads Corrosion Of Conformity. Jimmy Bower drums for both Down and Eyehategod. Crowbar‘s Kirk Windstein was a founding member of Down and spent more than two decades in the band.
Most of these groups came out of the same New Orleans scene across the late eighties and nineties. Pig Destroyer, from Virginia, and Power Trip, from Texas, are the geographical outliers, though Pantera are a Texan band themselves.
An artist presale opened on Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00pm EST using the password NOLA, running until Thursday at 10:00pm CST. Live Nation, Ticketmaster and local presales follow on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:00am EST.
General sale begins on Friday, September 11 at 11:00am EST, which is 10:00am in New Orleans.
Travel VIP packages are available through vipnation.com. Contents vary by package but generally include two-day festival tickets, two nights of accommodation, a VIP merchandise item and shuttle transport to and from the site.
