The highly anticipated BBC documentary chronicling the final, heroic chapter of Ozzy Osbourne’s life, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, has been officially rescheduled for an October 2 premiere. The film, which was postponed from its original August air date to respect the family’s wishes following his death, is described by its producers as an “inspiring and poignant account” of Ozzy fulfilling his dream to perform one last time and features the heartbreaking realization from his daughter Kelly that “Iron man wasn’t really made of iron.”

The one-hour film will now air on BBC One and iPlayer at 9 PM BST on Thursday, October 2. The project, which was filmed over three years, captures the “extraordinary roller-coaster” of Ozzy‘s final years as he battled declining health and fought to return to the stage for the historic “Back To The Beginning” concert in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5.

In a statement, the film’s executive producers, Ben Wicks and Colin Barr, shared their experience documenting this final chapter. Their full statement reads:

“It was an incredible privilege to spend the last few years with Ozzy, as well as Sharon, Jack and Kelly. Ozzy wanted to make it back to the U.K. and appear on stage one last time — our film is an inspiring and poignant account of him fulfilling that dream. Ozzy was loved by millions around the world not just for his music, but for his sense of mischief and his honesty all of which we saw plenty of in the final years of his life. But one thing shone through even more brightly to us, and that was Ozzy‘s intense love for his exceptional family who were by his side through it all.”

The documentary was originally conceived in 2022 as a multi-part series titled Home To Roost, intended to follow Ozzy and Sharon‘s planned move back to the UK. As Ozzy‘s health deteriorated, the project evolved into a single, focused film about his final battle and triumph. The BBC‘s head of commissioning for documentaries, Clare Sillery, said she hopes the film “brings comfort and joy to Ozzy‘s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”

With the new air date now set, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home is poised to be the definitive, family-authorized document of the final, courageous chapter of one of rock’s most beloved and iconic figures.
