The legacy of the late Ozzy Osbourne is clearly living on, as his grandson, Sidney, paid a hilarious Halloween tribute to his “Papa” by re-enacting the most infamous moment of the Black Sabbath legend’s career.
Kelly Osbourne posted a video to her TikTok account of her nearly 3-year-old son, Sidney (whose father is Sid Wilson of Slipknot), embracing his grandfather’s “Prince of Darkness” heritage. In the clip, the toddler is seen with a stuffed bat toy in his mouth. As Ozzy’s classic solo hit, “Crazy Train,” plays, Sidney bites down and rips the head clean off the plush toy, flashing a delighted grin afterward.
Kelly captioned the video with a cheeky nod to the family legend: “Learned from the greatest, Papa!”
Fans immediately flooded the comments, noting the strong family resemblance. “That smile he’s a definitely a little Ozzy,” one user wrote. Another added: “Before I even saw who posted this I thought, ‘He even looks like Ozzy.’”
The “greatest” lesson Sidney “learned” refers to Ozzy’s notorious 1982 concert at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa. During that show, a fan threw a real, dead bat onto the stage. Osbourne, believing it was a rubber prop, picked it up and bit its head off.
In his 2009 memoir, I Am Ozzy, Osbourne recalled the moment he realized his mistake.
“For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine,” he wrote. “I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin.”
That stunt resulted in Osbourne being immediately rushed to the hospital after the show for a painful series of rabies injections. While a miserable experience for the singer, the incident became a core part of his mythology. In a perfect, full-circle moment, the plush bat Sidney decapitated is an official piece of merchandise sold on Ozzy Osbourne’s website.
