Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Memoir Details Infidelity And Sharon’s Forgiveness: ‘I Broke My Wife’s Heart’

In his final, posthumously released memoir, “Last Rites“, the late Ozzy Osbourne candidly addresses his past infidelity, admitting “I broke my wife’s heart” and recounting Sharon Osbourne‘s characteristically blunt reaction to the situation. The book, which hit shelves earlier this month, offers a final, unflinching look into the complexities of their legendary 43-year marriage.

Released just three months after his passing on July 22, “Last Rites” chronicles the final chapter of the rock icon’s life. Within its pages, Osbourne confronts the period around Black Sabbath‘s final tour when his self-described sex addiction spiraled. He sarcastically wrote that he thought it would be “a great idea to start seeing a load of women on the side.”

He explained the affairs were less about romance and more about “filling a void,” but acknowledged the inevitable consequences. “At some point you get trapped and you can’t stop seeing ‘em, ‘cos you think they’ll go to the press or whatever. Which is pretty much what happened,” he wrote according to People. He then recalled Sharon‘s pragmatic and cutting response when the situation inevitably imploded.

Sharon was like, ‘What the f**k did you expect, Ozzy? If you’re seeing enough women, one of ‘em’s gonna want more. And that’s the one who’s gonna bring the whole thing crashing down on everyone’s heads,'” Osbourne recounted in the memoir.

The couple briefly separated in 2016 after hairdresser Michelle Pugh went public with her four-year affair with the rocker. Ozzy subsequently entered rehab for s*x addiction, and the couple reconciled later that year, eventually renewing their wedding vows. Sharon herself publicly acknowledged the situation at the time, stating on The Talk: “I forgive. It’s going to take a long time to trust, but we’ve been together 36 years, 34 of marriage… I just can’t think of my life without him.”

In his memoir, Ozzy expressed deep remorse for his actions and profound gratitude for his wife’s forgiveness.

“I broke my wife’s heart, and I’m lucky she forgave me. I just hope all the people I hurt know how sorry I am — including the kids, who were badly affected,” he wrote. “And that’s all I wanna say about any of that, ‘cos bringing it up just causes more pain.”

Last Rites” offers a final, candid look from Ozzy himself at the triumphs and tribulations of his final years, including his health battles and his heroic return to the stage for the “Back To The Beginning” concert just weeks before his death. His son, Jack Osbourne, noted that his father wouldn’t want readers to feel sorry for him, but rather to “enjoy his words. Feel his energy. Remember who he will always be. And never stop loving him.”
