Ozzy Osbourne Was Secretly Hospitalized Two Weeks Before Final Concert

Ozzy Osbourne was secretly admitted to a hospital just two weeks before taking the stage for his “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert on July 5, his family has revealed.

In the first new episode of “The Osbournes Podcast” since the metal icon’s death in July, Sharon, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne shared raw memories of Ozzy’s final days. They detailed a harrowing secret hospital stay that was kept under intense security to prevent press leaks.

Ozzy died at 76 on July 22, 2025, from a heart attack, following years of battling Parkinson’s disease, recurring pneumonia, sepsis, heart problems, and injuries from a 2019 fall. Sharon admitted that in March 2025, the family “thought we were going to lose him.”

Despite his rapidly declining health, Ozzy was adamant about performing the final show in his hometown of Birmingham, England. Jack revealed the timeline of the secret medical event, stating:

“No one knows this. Two weeks before the show [Back To The Keginning], he went back into hospital here.”

Sharon explained the extreme lengths they went to maintain privacy, which led to a moment of dark comedy that Ozzy appreciated.

“We had him in the hospital and we were just terrified that people were going to find out,” Sharon said. “They had pictures of all of us that were allowed up and names. And this guy comes in and he says, ‘I want to see John Osborne.’ So, of course, you know, red light… I’m like, ‘there’s no way. His brother doesn’t even know he’s in here.’… I said, ‘Find out who this guy is. He’s definitely somebody from the press. Definitely.’”

After security confronted the man, the truth was revealed. “So after harassing this poor man, there was a John Osborne in the hospital and it was his brother,” Sharon recalled. “And then you felt so terrible… And this poor guy just wanted to see his brother… I mean, daddy was hysterical laughing.”

The family explained that canceling the concert was never an option for Ozzy, despite his pain.

“He wanted to say, ‘Thank you,’” Kelly said. “That meant more to him than anything in the world.” Sharon added: “He wasn’t going to give up on it. He didn’t want to go out not doing it.”

The family said that while he was grumpy during rehearsals, the positive reaction from the show gave him a final moment of joy. “He didn’t realize how many people loved him — not just as the frontman of Black Sabbath, but as a person,” Sharon shared.
