Ozzy Osbourne And Black Sabbath’s Final Performance Concert Film Heads To Cinemas Worldwide

Ozzy Osbourne Final Show

Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios have announced the global cinematic release of “Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning“, a new concert film capturing the monumental final live performance of the legendary heavy metal singer alongside the original Black Sabbath lineup.

The film will begin its worldwide theatrical event run on October 28, 2026.

The documentary centers on the historic July 5, 2025, concert at Villa Park stadium in Birmingham, England, the hometown where Black Sabbath formed. The sold-out show marked Ozzy Osbourne‘s final farewell performance to his fans, taking place just 17 days prior to his death. The monumental night featured a solo set from the singer before culminating in a reunion of the original Black Sabbath quartet: Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. The event marked the first time the four original members had shared a stage together in over 20 years.

Overseeing the legendary event was the singer’s wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, who explained the deeply personal motivation behind the massive undertaking.

“‘Back To The Beginning‘ came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” she stated. “And he said the only thing that would make him happy was if he could perform again and say goodbye to his fans. That’s all he wanted to do. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”

Hosted by actor Jason Momoa with Tom Morello serving as the event’s musical director, the show featured tribute sets from heavy music’s biggest names, including Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer, and Tool.

The concert also included all-star collaborative segments featuring a massive roster of special guests: Adam Wakeman, Andrew Watt, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Draiman, David Ellefson, Jake E. Lee, K.K. Downing, Mike Bordin, Nuno Bettencourt, Papa V Perpetua (Ghost), Ronnie Wood, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Sleep Token II, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker, Vernon Reid, Whitfield Crane, and Yungblud.

Reflecting on the unprecedented scale of the farewell concert, Morello emphasized the historic weight of the evening.

“There’s never been anything like that that’s happened in the history of rock and roll,” says Morello. “There’s never been a precedent for a show like this… [Black Sabbath] gets to play their final show basically in the Ground Zero of where they created heavy metal.”

For the surviving members of Black Sabbath, the night provided long-awaited closure and an emotional final chapter for the pioneering heavy metal founders.

“It was a closure for the band and it was a good way to go out, I think,” said Iommi.

Butler echoed the sentiment, focusing on the atmosphere inside the stadium: “To me it was like pure love. It was just a wave of love. It’s the only way I can describe it, really. I mean, I could feel it as if it is like tangible.”

“Felt completely at home in a place where I belong. It almost felt like I was in a dream,” added Ward.

Directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce with the live concert directed by Tim Van Someren, the film is presented in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound to capture the immersive stadium scale of the production.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, September 24, at backtothebeginning.com.
