New Jersey thrash metal veterans Overkill will once again hit the road this spring without longtime bassist D.D. Verni, turning to a familiar and trusted substitute for their upcoming U.S. dates.
Former Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers has been confirmed as Verni’s fill-in for Overkill’s March and April 2026 run on the “Thrash Of The Titans” tour. The trek will feature Overkill in a supporting role for Testament, with German thrash pioneers Destruction also appearing on the bill.
Olde Wolbers acknowledged his return to the live lineup earlier today (Sunday, January 18), sharing tour artwork alongside the following message to fans:
“See you guys and gals out there on the ‘Thrash Of The Titans’ Tour!”
This marks another chapter in Olde Wolbers’ ongoing association with Overkill. He previously filled in for Verni during the band’s fall 2024 North American tour supporting King Diamond, after Verni stepped aside due to what was described as an ongoing shoulder issue.
Verni’s recovery has led to several temporary lineup adjustments over the past two years. For select European shows in September 2024, Overkill recruited former Kreator bassist Christian Giesler. Earlier that year, Verni also sat out the band’s April 2024 Latin American tour while recovering from shoulder surgery, with former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson handling bass duties on that run.
Despite the rotating lineup onstage, Overkill remain active behind the scenes. The band has recently entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to their 2023 album Scorched, with a tentative release expected in late 2026.
The upcoming “Thrash Of The Titans” tour will bring together multiple generations of thrash metal heavyweights, with Olde Wolbers once again stepping in to help keep Overkill’s touring momentum intact while Verni continues his recovery.
