The U.S. Army pilots involved in last weekend’s helicopter flyby over Kid Rock’s Nashville residence will not face any punishment, as the situation has now been officially closed.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that the suspension placed on the aircrew has been lifted, effectively ending the brief investigation that followed the incident. The flyover, which took place on March 28, saw a pair of AH-64 Apache helicopters pass over and briefly hover above Rock’s property while the musician stood by his pool, saluting and cheering.

The unusual display quickly made waves online, with critics calling it an inappropriate use of military resources and labeling it a publicity stunt funded by taxpayers. The backlash intensified after Rock posted video footage of the moment on social media, using it to take aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Known for his outspoken political views, Rock has long been aligned with U.S. President Donald Trump, and even modeled his Nashville home after the White House—often referring to it as “The Southern White House.” Speaking to WKRN, he dismissed concerns over the incident and suggested the pilots would ultimately be fine.

“I think they’re [the pilots] gonna be all right,” he said. “My buddy is commander in chief. I mean, what are they [the U.S. Army] looking into? They stopped seconds … a minute?”

Trump also weighed in on the situation during an interview with Fox News, offering a response that acknowledged the issue while maintaining a lighthearted tone.

“Well, they probably shouldn’t have been doing it, yes,” Trump explained. You’re not supposed to be playing games, right?” He went on to quip, “They like Kid Rock. I like Kid Rock. Maybe they were trying to defend him. I don’t know.”

With the controversy gaining traction earlier in the week, attention turned to whether the pilots would face consequences. However, Hegseth has now made it clear that no further action will be taken. In a social media statement, he wrote: “Thank you @KidRock.

“@USArmy pilots suspension LIFTED.

“No punishment. No investigation.

“Carry on, patriots.”
