U.S. death metal legends Nile have officially announced Adam Roethlisberger as their new bassist and vocalist. The confirmation came just hours before Roethlisberger was set to make his live debut with the legendary band on the opening night of their major U.S. tour, a challenge that bandleader Karl Sanders says he is “fully up to.”

The announcement was made on Friday, September 12, as the band prepared to kick off their tour with co-headliners Cryptopsy in Raleigh, North Carolina. In a statement posted to social media, guitarist and founding mastermind Karl Sanders officially welcomed the new member and praised the intense work he had already put in to get up to speed.

“Announcement time! We’re very happy to welcome Adam Roethlisberger to Nile on bass and vocals,” Sanders wrote. “Adam has already put in an incredible amount of work, proving himself not only as a fierce player but also as a great teammate fully up to the challenge. We’re sounding more powerful and heavier than ever, and we can’t wait to unleash it for you on tour.”

Roethlisberger was immediately thrown into the deep end, taking the stage for the first time with his new bandmates in front of a packed house on the first date of a 25-city trek across the United States. His arrival marks a new chapter for the band following the release of their tenth studio album, 2024’s acclaimed The Underworld Awaits Us All. The bass duties on that record were handled by Dan Vadim Von, establishing Roethlisberger as the newest piece of the formidable Nile puzzle.

With a new, road-tested member now in the fold and a new album’s worth of material to unleash, Nile has kicked off their latest tour with what Sanders promises is a renewed power and intensity.
