The recent “Back to the Beginning” concert, a momentous event celebrating Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, featured numerous rock and metal legends. However, one notable band with a deep historical connection to Ozzy—Mötley Crüe—was not present. Bassist Nikki Sixx has since shed light on their absence, addressing a fan’s query on the social media platform X.
When asked by a fan if Mötley Crüe had been invited to the show and would have liked to attend, Sixx offered a direct explanation. He noted that the band has “been having health issues within the band.” While specific details regarding the nature of these health concerns were not provided in his response, the news prompted an outpouring of well wishes from fans online.
Further context regarding these health matters emerged from previous announcements. Back in April, Mötley Crüe canceled their scheduled appearance at May’s Boardwalk Rock Fest. They also elected to postpone their planned spring Las Vegas residency until the fall. Both of these scheduling adjustments were made to allow vocalist Vince Neil sufficient time to recover following a necessary medical procedure he underwent earlier this year.
Despite their physical absence from the stage, Mötley Crüe acknowledged the significance of the “Back to the Beginning” event in metal history. Sixx himself conveyed a heartfelt message via his X account earlier in the week, expressing gratitude for Ozzy Osbourne‘s pivotal role in their early career.
He recalled: “Ozzy and Sharon gave us our first real big tour in 1984 on the Shout at the Devil tour… They gave us the opportunity to play in front of Ozzy and actually in my opinion, broke the band.” Sixx concluded his message by congratulating Ozzy Osbourne on a remarkable career, sending a respectful farewell: ‘Thank you with love.’
Currently, Mötley Crüe’s public schedule primarily includes their rescheduled Las Vegas residency performances. The band is set to perform at Dolby Live in Las Vegas, with shows commencing on September 17 and continuing at the venue through October 3. Information regarding tickets for these appearances is available on the band’s official website.
