Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has shared a heartfelt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne after watching the new documentary chronicling the Black Sabbath legend’s final years, “Ozzy: No Escape From Now“.
In a social media post on Monday, Sixx praised the film, which premiered earlier this month on Paramount+, for its honest portrayal of Ozzy and his wife, Sharon.
“This documentary it’s so raw and real just as Sharon and Ozzy lived their life and filled with so much laughter,” Sixx wrote. “I’m beyond grateful that S&O took us under their wings and taught us the ropes and broke our band international.”
He concluded his post with a personal message to Osbourne‘s family: “I’m always here for you Sharon and family. You do know I loved Ozzy with the deepest part of my heart. I’m so sorry for the family and friend’s loss. Always-“
The two-hour documentary, directed by Tania Alexander, details Osbourne‘s last six years, including his battle with Parkinson’s and his farewell performance at the “Back To The Beginning” concert in Birmingham, England, just weeks before he passed away.
Sixx recently spoke to Billboard about why Mötley Crüe was absent from that tribute show, explaining they were “unable to do it” due to frontman Vince Neil‘s recovery from a stroke.
During that interview, Sixx elaborated on the massive impact Ozzy had on his career when he took Mötley Crüe on tour in 1984.
“Honestly, they broke our band, Ozzy and Sharon,” Sixx said. “Sharon saw a band that something was happening with and it was a perfect fit for Ozzy, and we just became so close and Ozzy took us around the world and just did everything for us… I’ll forever be in debt to Sharon and Ozzy for that.”
“Thank you, Ozzy, every day for the opportunity to have a career.”
