New details have emerged surrounding the death of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers, as authorities in Florida reportedly responded to a call regarding a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest” and classified the call as an “attended death.” Meanwhile, the band has confirmed through a promoter that they will proceed with their planned South American tour next month as a tribute to their fallen bandmate.
According to a report from TMZ, authorities in St. Johns County, Florida, responded to the call concerning Rivers on October 18. The “attended death” classification, as defined by the American Institute of Crime Scene Integrity (AICSI), typically applies when “the decedent has been a patient under medical care for a serious or life-threatening illness that will likely lead to death in a relatively short period of time.” An official cause of death has not yet been released.
Despite the tragic loss of their founding member, Limp Bizkit has decided to honor their upcoming tour commitments. The Mexican promoter for the tour, Musicvibe.mx, released a statement confirming the band’s decision to play the shows in memory of Rivers.
The promoter’s wrote:
“We deeply regret the passing of Sam Rivers, founding bassist of Limp Bizkit, whose talent and legacy marked generations and will continue to resonate in every note of their music.”
“In such a significant moment for the band and their fans, Limp Bizkit has decided that they will continue with their performance next November 29 at the Explanada Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, as part of their Gringo Papi Tour 2025.”
“That night, every riff and every scream from the audience will sound in honor of the great legacy that Sam offered to Nu-Metal, because his energy will never cease to exist.”
Sam Rivers passed away on October 18 at the age of 48. The band announced his death in a heartfelt tribute, calling him “pure magic… The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”
