Progressive metal legends Nevermore are officially back. The band has confirmed their first reunion show — set to take place at Wacken Open Air 2026. While this is the only show announced so far, fans should keep an eye out, as more dates might be added. That means Wacken may not be the first show of the reunion after all.
The confirmed lineup so far features longtime members Jeff Loomis (guitar) and Van Williams (drums), who are leading this long-awaited return. Joining them are a new bassist, second guitarist, and vocalist — all of whom remain unnamed for now, adding a layer of mystery to the relaunch.
Back in March, Loomis and Williams shared an update on social media, confirming that they had successfully rebuilt Nevermore with fresh talent:
“The wait is over! We are beyond excited to announce that after an incredible audition process, we’ve assembled a lineup that honors our legacy while forging a new path forward.
We want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to submit auditions. The level of talent and passion we saw was truly inspiring, and we deeply appreciate each and every one of you who put your heart into this process. Your support and patience during this time has meant the world to us, and we can’t wait to share what’s next!

This is a major moment for fans of Nevermore, whose last album, The Obsidian Conspiracy, came out back in 2010. Following years of inactivity and the heartbreaking loss of frontman Warrel Dane in 2017, many believed the band’s story was over.
But with their return now in motion — starting with Wacken 2026 and possibly even earlier shows — it’s clear Nevermore is ready to write a brand-new chapter.
