The mysterious British rock band known as President has released its second official single, “Fearless,” today via King Of Terrors/ADA. This new track further cultivates the intrigue surrounding the group’s identity and ambitious sound, solidifying their commitment to defying conventional musical norms.
Speculation continues to mount regarding the identity of President‘s lead vocalist, with many rumors pointing to Charlie Simpson, the frontman of both the pop-punk band Busted and the post-hardcore outfit Fightstar. Fueling this speculation is the fact that King Of Terrors Limited, the label distributing President’s music, lists Charles Robert Simpson as its director. Earlier this year, a Reddit user also uncovered that the U.K. trademark for “President” was registered under Komorebi Entertainment Limited, a company owned by Simpson. It is also notable that Simpson previously wore a mask during his appearance as “Rhino” on the British version of “The Masked Singer” in 2023.
“Fearless” builds upon the dark intensity established by President‘s debut single, “In The Name Of The Father,” which was released last month. The band’s sound blends heavy guitar riffs with electronic elements, creating a cinematic and almost apocalyptic atmosphere that transcends typical genre boundaries. Their music is characterized by its dark, defiant, and emotionally charged nature, reflecting an intentional rebellion against formulaic rock conventions.
Central to President‘s mission is the preservation of mystery. The collective has chosen to mask its members and minimize individual identities, aiming to shift the entire focus onto the music itself and its underlying message. This concept permeates both their sonic and visual presentation—prioritizing artistic intention over image, and creative output over personal ego.
Fans will soon have the opportunity to experience President live, as the band is scheduled to make its debut performance at the Download Festival in the U.K. on June 15. This festival appearance will be followed by their first headlining show at The Garage in London on July 30, providing a chance for audiences to witness the enigmatic act firsthand.
