Nu-metal band Mudvayne has signaled that new music is on the way, following a cryptic video shared on the band’s official Instagram account. The brief clip, which shows a blood-covered hand writing the word “HURT” on a white background, is the latest hint that the band is ready to release new material for the first time in over a decade.

This development follows months of speculation and recent confirmations from the band that new music was in the works. In a May 2025 video, frontman Chad Gray confirmed that the band was working on their first album since 2009. Gray stated simply, “It’s coming,” while standing with Danny Wimmer of Alchemy Records. It was also confirmed that the band had signed with Wimmer’s new label, which is also home to acts like Staind and Chevelle.

The new material is expected to be released ahead of their upcoming tour, which is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal album, L.D. 50. The tour, with support from Static-X and Vended, will kick off on September 11 in Dubuque, Iowa, and run through October 26, concluding in Uncasville, Connecticut. The band will be performing their 2000 debut album in its entirety.

After more than a decade of inactivity, Mudvayne announced their reunion in April 2021 with a series of festival appearances, marking their first live performances in 12 years. The reunion gained momentum with a co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie in 2022 and their own headlining “Psychotherapy Sessions” tour in 2023. The new music would be the first studio release since the band’s reunion and would mark the start of a new chapter for the band.
