After a 16-year wait, Mudvayne has broken its silence with a new single, “Hurt People Hurt People.” The track marks the band’s first new music since their self-titled album in 2009 and serves as a powerful statement ahead of their upcoming 25th-anniversary tour. The song features production by industry veteran Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Foo Fighters) and mixing by Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Korn), a collaboration that ushers in a new era for the band and their new label home, Alchemy Records. You can listen to the song down below.
According to frontman Chad Gray, the new single carries a deeply personal and introspective message. Gray commented, “I think I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to break the cycle. We create our own suffering, our own hurt. It’s time for us to create self-love and let go of the pain. It was never ours to begin with.” The single’s release coincides with the band’s impending L.D. 50 25th-anniversary tour, where they will be celebrating their genre-defining debut album. The tour will be a co-headlining run with Static-X, who are also commemorating the 25th anniversary of their album Wisconsin Death Trip.
In a move to offer a truly unique experience for die-hard fans, Chad Gray is providing a “VIP Backstage Pre-Show Makeup Experience” during the tour. This exclusive package, priced at $3,000, offers one fan and a guest an hour-long, one-on-one session with the singer backstage. Gray emphasized that this is not a typical meet-and-greet, describing it as “a full-blown one-hour hang session with me during my pre-show makeup ritual.” In addition to the personalized experience, the package includes general admission tickets and a variety of commemorative items, with a portion of the proceeds going to the F**k Cancer organization.
