Fans are invited to raise a glass to Lemmy Kilmister and celebrate Motörhead Day this upcoming Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California. The event, marking the band’s monumental 50th anniversary year, promises an evening dedicated to the enduring legacy of the rock ‘n’ roll legends.

The celebration, fittingly held at Lemmy‘s favorite haunt on the Sunset Strip, kicks off at 6:00 PM and runs “till late.” It’s open to all fans looking to commemorate the occasion Motörhead style. Festivities will include exclusive merchandise, special giveaways, and a live performance by Motörhead tribute band Murder One.

Adding to the day’s events, fans can get inked with free Motörhead flash tattoos before heading to the Rainbow. The tattoos will be available from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on May 8th at The Estate Tattoo, located at 813 Centennial St, Los Angeles.

The Rainbow Bar & Grill holds a special place in Motörhead history. When not on tour or recording, Lemmy famously spent countless hours at the venue’s patio, which was officially dedicated and renamed “Lemmy’s Lounge” in November 2016. A life-size bronze statue immortalizing the frontman already stands as a beacon for fans worldwide, and just last year, on April 19, 2024, Lemmy‘s ashes were permanently enshrined at the bar, further cementing its status as hallowed ground for Motörhead enthusiasts.

While the Rainbow event serves as a central gathering, the newsletter notes that other bars and clubs globally will also be hosting Motörhead Day festivities. Fans are encouraged to check Motörhead‘s official social media channels and website (imotorhead.com) for updates on celebrations happening elsewhere.

This Motörhead Day event is part of the band’s ongoing 50th-anniversary celebration throughout 2025. Despite Lemmy‘s passing in 2015, Motörhead‘s influence remains immense. The Grammy-winning band has sold over 25 million albums globally. Recent figures from 2024 highlight their continued popularity, including a UK Top 10 single with “Lawman,” over 320 million global streams, 20 million Spotify listeners, and more than 112 million YouTube views. A series of special releases and events are planned for the anniversary year, with a significant announcement expected in May 2025, reaffirming the mantra: “Motörhead For Life… Lemmy Forever!”
