Mötley Crüe’s John 5 Optimistic About Next Year, Plans To Do: ’50 Shows, 50 States, In 50 days’

Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 plans a 2026 solo tour: 50 shows in 50 states in 50 days, a rare feat he revealed in a Get On The Bus interview.

John 5 Defends Backing Tracks Accusations

John 5, the current guitarist for Mötley Crüe, has revealed an incredibly ambitious plan for a solo tour in 2026. In an interview with Get On The Bus, the guitarist announced his intention to perform 50 shows in 50 states over the course of 50 consecutive days, an endeavor that has been accomplished by very few artists.

The tour, which is scheduled to begin in October 2026, would see the band travel from Alaska and play a show in a different state every single day. John 5 acknowledged the monumental logistical challenges of such an undertaking, including having backup personnel for every role on the tour—from bus drivers to tour managers and technicians. However, he noted that the one person for whom there is no backup is himself. “I’m doing something next year that very, very few people have done,” he stated. “I’m playing – and this is next year – I think starting in October (2026). I’m doing 50 shows, 50 states, in 50 days… It’s going to be insane!”

This news comes as John 5 prepares to release his new solo album, Ghost, on October 10. Produced and mixed by Barry Pointer, the album features a number of notable guest appearances. A new single and music video for the track “Deviant” have been released, featuring drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Bryan Beller. The song is one of ten tracks on the album, with other guests including Kenny Aronoff, Matt Bissonette, Marco Minnemann, and his Mötley Crüe bandmate Tommy Lee, who contributes hand claps and foot stomps to the track “You, Me And The Devil Makes Three.“

John 5 expressed his pride in the new album, calling it his “proudest achievement to date.” He explained, “To me, the meaning of life is doing what you love. And this is what I love. I am surrounded by ghosts in my life and I needed to honor them with this album. It is what I was meant to do.”

In the immediate future, the guitarist will be busy with Mötley Crüe’s 10-show residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, beginning on September 12. Following the residency, John 5 will embark on a co-headlining tour with fellow guitar virtuoso Richie Kotzen, with dates scheduled from October through November 2025.
