The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, 81, is engaged to his longtime partner, former professional ballerina and choreographer Melanie Hamrick, 37. Hamrick confirmed the engagement in a recent interview with Paris Match, revealing that Jagger proposed “two or three years ago.”
The couple, who began their relationship in 2014, share a son, Deveraux, born in 2016. Hamrick met Jagger while he was on tour with the Rolling Stones.
While confirming the engagement, Hamrick stated that there are no immediate wedding plans. “Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything,” she explained.
In 2023, Hamrick sparked engagement rumors when she was seen wearing a large diamond ring on her left ring finger.
This will be Hamrick‘s first marriage. Jagger was previously married to Bianca Jagger from 1971 to 1978.
Before his relationship with Hamrick, Jagger had children with four other women: Bianca Jagger, with whom he has one child, Marsha Hunt, Jerry Hall, and Luciana Gimenez Morad.
Asked about the age difference, Melanie made it clear that public opinions hold little weight for her. She admitted her long-standing preference for older men, implying that their connection is what truly matters.
“I think it’s a question of maturity,” she said. “At 17, I was working, paying my own bills, and traveling the world, while most boys my age barely knew what they wanted to do with their lives. I had nothing in common with them. I was absolutely focused on dance; I saw nothing else.”
“Why worry about other people’s opinions, stop at what they think of us,” she said. “Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. … As long as everyone is happy and healthy, everything is fine.”, she concluded.
