For the launch of their new year-round channel on SiriusXM, Metallica brought the energy of their stadium tour to a tiny, exclusive club show at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York. The intimate concert, which took place on Thursday, August 28, was an exclusive event for lucky SiriusXM subscribers, celebrating the debut of Maximum Metallica.

One of the most notable moments of the night was a powerful tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. In a surprise move, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo performed a “doodle” of Ozzy‘s iconic song “Crazy Train.” The band’s performance captured the raw power of their larger shows, but in a setting so small it was a throwback to their early days. The event also drew a crowd of notable figures, including Paul McCartney, Sylvester Stallone, Michael J. Fox, and SiriusXM‘s own Howard Stern.

The new channel, Maximum Metallica, launched on Friday, August 29, and will be available to all SiriusXM subscribers. It will also be accessible for free in all SiriusXM-equipped vehicles throughout the month of September. Fans who were not at the exclusive concert will have a chance to hear the performance as it is set to premiere on the Maximum Metallica channel on Monday, September 1, at 12:00 p.m. ET. The full show will also air on Howard Stern‘s channel, Howard 101, on Friday, September 5.

Setlist was as follows:

  1. Creeping Death
  2. For Whom The Bell Tolls
  3. Wherever I May Roam
  4. Kirk And Rob Doodle (Ozzy Osbourne‘s “Crazy Train”)
  5. Fuel
  6. Fade To Black
  7. Sad But True
  8. The Unforgiven
  9. Whiskey In The Jar
  10. Nothing Else Matters
  11. Seek & Destroy
  12. One
  13. Master Of Puppets
  14. Enter Sandman

The exclusive channel, branded as “The Most Metallica Anywhere,” provides fans with unprecedented access to Metallica‘s expansive catalog, featuring everything from mega hits and deep cuts to live shows and behind-the-scenes stories. Listeners can also expect rare recordings, exclusive interviews, and surprises curated by the bandmembers themselves, making it the ultimate destination for both lifelong fans and new listeners.
