Metallica Shares Pro-Shot ‘Sad But True’ Video From Exclusive Dreamfest Benefit Show

Metallica has released professional-shot footage of their performance of “Sad But True,” captured during their headlining set at Salesforce‘s annual Dreamfest benefit concert on October 15.

The exclusive event, held at San Francisco’s Chase Center, served as a high-profile fundraiser for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Tickets for the night, which also featured pop sensation Benson Boone, began at $1,500.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the evening began with a VIP cocktail reception, and Metallica‘s performance was complemented by a buffet and interactive experiences throughout the venue.

Frontman James Hetfield greeted the crowd after the opening track, “Creeping Death,” saying, “We’re here to have some fun, so join us.”

“Welcome to the Dreamfest party,” Hetfield added. “Where did you all come from? Whether you came from far away or down the street, we’re happy you’re here.”

The band’s 12-song set was packed with hits, including “For Whom The Bell Tolls,” “Fuel,” “The Memory Remains,” “The Unforgiven,” “Wherever I May Roam,” and “Nothing Else Matters.” The group closed out the powerful performance with “Seek & Destroy,” “One,” “Master Of Puppets,” and “Enter Sandman.”

In a statement released when the concert was first announced, Metallica expressed their gratitude for being part of the event again. “We’re honored to announce that we’ve once again been asked to play at Dreamfest… We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to the Bay Area for the conference and the show!”

The Dreamfest concert series has become a significant philanthropic event, raising $120 million for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals since its inception in 2010. Previous headliners have included Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, U2, and Green Day.
