Metallica Fans Report Bizarre Packaging Mix-Up Involving Robert Trujillo ‘Funko Pop!’ Figures

Fans of Metallica have recently encountered an unexpected surprise when ordering the new Robert Trujillo “Funko Pop!” collectible.

Fans of the heavy metal titans Metallica have recently encountered an unexpected surprise when ordering the new Robert TrujilloFunko Pop!” collectible. Released as part of a merchandise line celebrating the band’s latest studio album, 72 Seasons, and its accompanying global tour, the 3.75-inch vinyl figures are arriving with highly unusual packaging errors.

Across various online forums dedicated to Metallica, purchasers have begun sharing photographs of their newly delivered items. While the actual vinyl figure of Robert Trujillo appears exactly as advertised, multiple fans report that the item was shipped inside boxes branded with images and text for Jimmy Valmer, an animated character first introduced on the television series “South Park” in 2001.

Many buyers indicated that these specific mismatched orders were placed through Amazon. Reacting to the manufacturing and shipping error in a Facebook group focused on the band’s current tour, fan Josh Reubenking shared his experience, as reported by Loudwire:

“I honestly thought it was funny,” he stated, adding: “Amazon let me keep it and I have a replacement coming soon. (Hopefully correctly packaged).”

Other fans in the community took a humorous approach to the unexpected pop culture crossover. Reacting to the packaging error, one user commented:

“Don’t worry about that,” followed by: “That’s just Jimmy from another timeline.”

Beyond the “South Park” packaging error, the rollout of the 72 SeasonsFunko” line has been met with various other logistical inconsistencies. While some fans have received the Robert Trujillo figure in the correct box, others who ordered the complete set of all four band members reported that the bassist was entirely missing from their delivery box. Furthermore, another buyer claimed their Lars Ulrich figure arrived without any packaging box at all.

Inventory shortages also appear to be impacting the release. One frustrated customer detailed their ongoing wait for the merchandise:

“I haven’t received my ‘Funkos.’ They are in backorder since September and they can’t send me any of them (I ordered) from Amazon.”

As of publication, representatives from “Funko” have not provided an official comment regarding the widespread packaging mix-up. The Robert Trujillo figure currently remains listed for purchase on the official “Funko” store via Amazon for $25.99.
