Heavy metal legends Metallica are preparing to redefine their live experience with the announcement of their “Life Burns Faster” residency at the immersive Sphere in Las Vegas. The residency marks the first time a heavy metal band will headline the technologically advanced venue, bringing the group’s signature intensity into a setting designed for next-generation sensory performance.
The engagement will mirror elements of the band’s acclaimed M72 world tour, featuring “No Repeat Weekends” in which two shows on Thursday and Saturday nights will showcase completely different set lists. Fans attending multiple performances will therefore experience distinct versions of the band’s catalog across each weekend of the four-week run. The residency begins on October 1 & 3, with additional shows scheduled to follow.
“Surprise… the rumors are true! We’re officially bringing our No Repeat Weekends to Sphere in Las Vegas this fall,” the band said in a statement. “Our Sphere residency, Life Burns Faster, will debut on October 1 & 3, with six more shows to follow.”
Ticket availability will roll out in phases. Two-Night and Single-Night Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning March 6 at 10 AM PT. Prior to the public on-sale, fans can participate in a series of presales: the Fan Club Presale begins March 2, followed by the Ticketmaster Artist Presale on March 3, along with additional presale opportunities in the days ahead.
For those seeking the ultimate experience, the “Full House” Ticket—formerly known as the “I Disappear” Ticket—returns, allowing access to every show in the residency. Enhanced Experiences and travel packages are also available. Presales for travel packages begin February 27 at 7 AM PT for Legacy Members and 9 AM PT for Fifth Members, with the general sale opening at 11 AM PT. Details can be found at metallicatravel.com. Presales for Enhanced Experience Tickets and the Full House Ticket are included in the Fan Club Presale on March 3, with further information available at superfan.live/artist/metallica.
The residency will blend live staples with surprises spanning the Metallica catalog, enhanced by Sphere’s immersive technologies. The venue’s LED display—the world’s highest resolution screen—wraps around the audience, creating an all-encompassing visual experience. Sphere Immersive Sound delivers precise audio to every seat, while multi-sensory 4D elements add another dimension to the performance.
Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich reflected on the venue’s potential: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought, ‘We have to do this. It’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months’ time, and way f**kin’ psyched to go next level!”
