US heavy metal veterans Metal Church have emerged from a period of uncertainty with a revitalized roster and a ferocious new track. The band has officially introduced a new lineup that sees founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof and longtime axe-man Rick Van Zandt joined by a trio of seasoned heavyweights: former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, drummer Ken Mary (ex-Alice Cooper, Flotsam and Jetsam), and vocalist Brian Allen (ex-Vicious Rumors).

To mark this new chapter, the group has released a blistering single titled “F.A.F.O.” (F**k Around Find Out), accompanied by a music video. The track serves as the first taste of the band’s upcoming studio album, which is currently scheduled for release in 2026 via Reaper Entertainment in Europe.

The formation of this new unit came after the band reached what they described as a “creative crossroads” following their recent tour of Australia. According to the group, an unexpected surge of inspiration motivated Vanderhoof to reassemble the band with this specific configuration of musicians. The resulting studio sessions were reportedly immediate and explosive, yielding “F.A.F.O.” and setting the stage for a full-length record.

The new single was produced by Vanderhoof himself, with mixing and mastering duties handled by Zeuss at Planet Z studios.

In a statement addressing the band’s return, Vanderhoof expressed disbelief and gratitude regarding the group’s longevity and current creative energy.

“After 45 years, the fact that we have new music coming in 2025 feels like a miracle,” Vanderhoof said. “There was a time when I honestly didn’t think Metal Church would continue, but we’re back—and this lineup is firing on all cylinders. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a new single on the way; that alone makes this moment incredibly special. ‘F.A.F.O.’ is an aggressive thrasher, and I think the fans are really going to dig it. We certainly do—otherwise it wouldn’t be Metal Church.”

Further details regarding the 2026 album release are expected to be announced in the coming months.
