Meshuggah Sets July Release For Two Remastered Anniversary Classics

Meshuggah have officially announced the release of newly remastered anniversary editions for ‘Destroy Erase Improve’ and ‘Catch Thirtythree’.

Meshuggah 2026

Swedish extreme metal pioneers Meshuggah have officially announced the release of newly remastered anniversary editions for two of their most culturally significant works: Destroy Erase Improve: 30th Anniversary Edition and Catch Thirtythree: 20th Anniversary Edition. Both titles are scheduled to arrive on July 24, 2026, via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Fans will be able to purchase the albums on vinyl, CD digipack, and digital formats. Unlike the limited Record Store Day pressings released earlier this April that featured alternate cover art, these wider releases will restore the original album artwork while preserving the enhanced audio remasters created specifically for this milestone campaign.

Originally unleashed in 1995, Destroy Erase Improve marked a monumental turning point for Meshuggah and heavy music at large. The release introduced a sharpened version of the band’s signature complex sound, showcasing machine-like rhythmic precision alongside dissonant riff architecture and unexpected flashes of jazz-fusion.

The technical mastery displayed on the record ultimately provided the foundational blueprint for progressive metal, extreme metal, math metal, and the expansive djent movement that followed in later decades. Widely revered as one of the definitive metal albums of the 1990s, the record demonstrated exactly how Meshuggah forged an entirely unique musical language.

To celebrate the upcoming 30th-anniversary release, the band has dropped a newly remastered version of the single “Future Breed Machine“, highlighting one of the most enduring and iconic tracks from the album.

A decade after establishing their revolutionary sound, Meshuggah pushed their creative vision even further with the 2005 release of Catch Thirtythree. This conceptual masterwork remains one of the group’s most singular and ambitious statements.

Constructed as a continuous 47-minute composition divided into 13 distinct movements, the album relies on hypnotic repetition, crushing eight-string guitar work, and shifting rhythmic illusions. The result is a uniquely immersive atmosphere within the band’s extensive catalog.

Notably, Catch Thirtythree is the only full-length Meshuggah album to exclusively feature programmed drums. Self-produced by the band, the recording utilized Drumkit From Hell technology, developed by Toontrack, to achieve its stark, futuristic sonic landscape.

In conjunction with the anniversary announcement, fans can now stream the newly remastered track “Shed” across all streaming platforms.

Both reissues cement the lasting impact of Meshuggah across multiple generations of heavy music. By offering both the genre-defining intensity of Destroy Erase Improve and the monolithic conceptual scale of Catch Thirtythree, Reigning Phoenix Music provides longtime supporters and new listeners alike with a chance to experience two essential chapters in the band’s history with renewed clarity and weight.
