Megadeth Unleash ‘I Don’t Care’ Music Video; Dave Mustaine Details Riff Origins

Megadeth has released the official music video for their aggressive new single, “I Don’t Care,” providing the first visual taste of their forthcoming final studio album. The track is the second single from the self-titled Megadeth, which is scheduled to arrive on January 23, 2026.

The new video captures the song’s high-energy, confrontational attitude. In a new statement, frontman Dave Mustaine explained that the song’s defiant chorus is a feeling everyone can relate to.

“How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people ‘I don’t care’ more often.”

Mustaine also delved into the song’s intricate musical construction, revealing that the main riff has been in development since their previous album, 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!.

“Part of the main riff in this track had been floating around in my head since we did The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, so I was pumped to start recording ‘I Don’t Care’ for this LP,” Mustaine said. “I really love the guitar nuances in the track. There is the main rhythm riff, next, a very deliberate down-picking part, next, the octave chords with jump picking on octave notes (while still down-picking!). And the soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu [Mäntysaari] is magnificent!!”

Megadeth is being released via Mustaine‘s Tradecraft imprint, in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label. The album marks the end of the band’s four-decade recording career as they prepare to embark on a multi-year global farewell tour.
