On Sunday, March 8, Megadeth hosted a private celebration event dubbed “Thrash The Charts” in La Vergne, Tennessee. The exclusive gathering was organized to commemorate a major milestone in the band’s career: the first-ever Billboard Top 200 No. 1 debut for their final studio album, Megadeth.
The victory lap event honored the band’s unprecedented chart success, which included seven additional No. 1 Billboard chart debuts in the United States alongside multiple top-tier chart positions globally. Fans who secured packages for the intimate evening were treated to admission to the private party, a photo opportunity with the band, light food and beverages, and a special electric live performance by Megadeth. Additionally, every guest was presented with a limited-edition commemorative No. 1 album plaque created specifically for the occasion. Local coverage of the event was provided via a short video report by WKRN News 2, the ABC affiliate in Nashville.
This celebration immediately follows the conclusion of the band’s “Canada 2026” tour. The extensive trek, which featured Megadeth performing alongside Anthrax and Exodus, commenced on February 15 in Victoria, British Columbia, and officially wrapped up on March 6 in Quebec City.
Released as the official follow-up to The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, the self-titled final album Megadeth arrived via frontman Dave Mustaine‘s Tradecraft imprint under Frontiers Label Group‘s new BLKIIBLK label. According to Luminate, the record dominated the U.S. album chart, generating 73,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 29. Pure album sales constituted the vast majority of that figure, totaling 69,000 physical and digital copies sold.
Internationally, the record secured the No. 1 spot in both Australia and Austria. It also achieved immense Top 5 success across Europe and beyond, landing at No. 2 in Finland and Sweden (reaching No. 1 in physical sales for both regions), and No. 2 in Belgium. Further strong placements included No. 3 in the U.K. and Germany, No. 4 in the Netherlands, and No. 5 in both Italy and New Zealand.
Megadeth marks a historic peak for the band’s commercial performance. Their previous release, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 48,000 equivalent units, marking their eighth top 10 album at the time.
Megadeth‘s top 10 Billboard 200 entries include: Countdown To Extinction (No. 2, 1992), Youthanasia (No. 4, 1994), Cryptic Writings (No. 10, 1997), United Abominations (No. 8, 2007), Endgame (No. 9, 2009), Super Collider (No. 6, 2013) and Dystopia (No. 3, 2016).
