An unannounced Megadeth compilation called Fast Hits looks to be in the pipeline.
A listing for the release turned up on Walmart’s website, where it’s currently open for pre-order with an August 21 release date. As of this writing, though, the band has made no official announcement, and no full track listing has appeared.
Concrete details are thin, but the Fast Hits title points to a greatest-hits set gathering some of the group’s best-known material. The listing also suggests the release will be a Walmart exclusive, though that hasn’t been formally confirmed either.
The timing has fans talking, especially since Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine hinted at a “massive” announcement earlier this month while speaking with Turkey’s “Apaçık Radyo“.
“We’ve got an announcement we’re making [in July] that is so f**king massive. It’s out of this world. Let me say it like that. I gave you a clue right there. It’s out of this world… We got another Megacruise we’re starting to work on, something we’re gonna announce, Peace Sails cruise. And that’s gonna be — unlike the last time, where I got sick and I couldn’t go, I’m going to be on that one,” he said at the time.
His “out of this world” phrasing has fueled plenty of speculation, especially since Mustaine told Metal Hammer last year that he’d love Megadeth‘s final concert to happen in space. Alongside that teaser, he confirmed a second Megacruise under the “Peace Sails” banner is in the works, and this time he’ll be aboard, unlike the inaugural voyage.
With only two days left in July, it’s still unclear whether the Walmart-exclusive Fast Hits compilation is the big reveal Mustaine had in mind, or whether the band has another surprise lined up before the month wraps.
The listing lands while Megadeth are out on their farewell world tour. Last year, Mustaine confirmed the run would be the band’s last global trek, pointing to his ongoing health issues as the main reason for closing out their touring career.
Back in January, Megadeth put out their 17th and final studio album, the self-titled Megadeth, on January 23, 2026. Produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, the record was the only one to feature guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, and it marked bassist James LoMenzo‘s first studio outing with the band since 2009’s Endgame.
