As Megadeth prepares to unveil what frontman Dave Mustaine has confirmed will be their final studio album, the thrash metal titans are offering fans a rare opportunity to experience the record before the rest of the world. The band has announced an “Ultimate Immersive Listening Event” to take place just outside of Nashville in La Vergne, Tennessee, on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
This one-day, 18-and-over event is billed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience, running from approximately 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It is designed to bring diehard supporters closer to the band’s legacy as they approach the end of their recording career.
Attendees will be treated to an early playback of the self-titled album, Megadeth, which is officially scheduled for release on January 23 via Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint. Beyond the listening session, the itinerary includes a live acoustic performance by the band, a “Megadeth Master Class,” and a Q&A session.
Dave Mustaine will also participate in a special “Guitar Talk” segment alongside Gibson CEO César Gueikian. The package includes a catered dinner accompanied by Megadeth Beer and House of Mustaine Wine, photo opportunities with the band, and exclusive merchandise, including an autographed album-art poster.
The event announcement coincides with the release of the album’s latest single, “I Don’t Care.” The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Keith J. Leman that blends skate culture visuals with performance footage.
Mustaine offered insight into the aggressive new anthem, noting that the song taps into a universal feeling of defiance.
“How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to!” Mustaine said. “Deep down inside, if we had the ba**s, we would tell more people, ‘I don’t care’ more often.”
Musically, the track features a riff that Mustaine has been holding onto for some time.
“Part of the main riff in this track had been floating around in my head since we did The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, so I was pumped to start recording ‘I Don’t Care’ for this LP,” he explained. “And the soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu [Mäntysaari] is magnificent!!”
The new album will also feature the previously released single “Tipping Point,” as well as a highly anticipated bonus track: a re-imagined recording of “Ride The Lightning,” the title track from Metallica‘s 1984 album which Mustaine co-wrote.
Following the album launch, Megadeth will embark on a busy 2026 touring schedule. The band is set to headline a Canadian tour in February and March with support from Anthrax and Exodus. Later in the year, they will serve as special guests on the North American leg of Iron Maiden‘s “Run For Your Lives World Tour,” kicking off in late August.
